God reveals himself and connects us to one another through the art of storytelling all throughout the Bible. While we may have solid fears around sharing out stories with others, this is one of the most powerful and easily accessible tools we have in sharing the love of Christ with others. Below are four simple steps to help you get started and build confidence around sharing your story!
Reflect
The first step in being able to share your story is to know your story! Take time to sit and reflect on the events of your life. How has God been faithful to you? How is he working in your life this Christmas season? Journal some initial thoughts and thank God for the unique story he has given you!
Connection
Who are the people that God has placed in your life and how do you relate to them? Everyone that is in your life has been placed there intentionally. Write down the people that God is bringing to your mind right now and ask him to show you the unique ways your story connects to theirs. Pray for an opportunity for conversations to help grow your relationship with them.
Simplicity
Your story does not need to be a best seller novel filled with action and surprises. Your story is your heart! You carry the joy and love of God within you and that is apparent to others even before you speak. Our stories are just words that express how good and faithful he has been to us over the course of our life. Pray and ask God to help guide the conversations that you have this Christmas season and be ready and willing to share what he brings to mind!
Confidence
The key to connecting with others and honestly sharing your heart is found in being confident in the story that God gave you. Since our stories are uniquely ours, we cannot mess them up! Whether you met him as a young child or have only been walking with him for a few months, your story is valuable to building His kingdom so let’s leave our fears behind and commit to sharing our hearts with those around us this Christmas season.
