King Solomon unfortunately did not wholeheartedly follow God’s commands. His divided heart led to significant consequences.

At the conclusion of the temple dedication, Solomon blesses the people and they all sacrifice to God. Then God appears to Solomon and calls the people to continued obedience.

The ark of the covenant enters the temple and the presence of God fills the temple. Solomon dedicates the temple and prays for the people.

Solomon builds the palace and creates the furnishings for the temple, finishing the work for God’s house.

Finally it is time to build a house for God. The beauty and design of the temple point to the character and presence of God.

King Solomon exercised his immense wisdom, and the nation of Israel experienced tremendous peace and prosperity.

Solomon faces the immense task of leading the nation. At times he chooses the path of worldly wisdom and at times he chooses the path of godly wisdom.

As Solomon’s reign is established, he finds himself surrounded by some devoted to him and some seeking to undermine his leadership. Solomon needs God’s wisdom and discernment to guard the throne.
