“Adonai” is a Hebrew term that is often translated as “Lord” or “My Lord.” It is one of the names used to refer to God in the Jewish, Christian, and some other monotheistic traditions.
In this chapter, Solomon remembers that God is trustworthy in all seasons of life. We are urged to look to Him in seasons of difficulty and joy and to live wisely.
Having more of anything – wealth, control, or power – fails to satisfy. Solomon points to the only thing that can bring true satisfaction: enjoying God and trusting Him with every aspect of life.
