There’s more to church than

Sunday worship

We all need a group. You know, a place where everybody knows your name. People who will be there for you. (Do we need to keep going with old-school TV references?) But really, home groups are how a big place starts to feel small. A home group is a place to show up – whatever your day was like – and spend time with more people who love God and want to know you.

Home Groups FAQ's

Some of the most frequently asked questions about Christ Chapel home groups.

Sunday worship services are important, but God intended us to gather together in community with other believers. That’s where home groups come in. You’ll have the opportunity to study God’s Word, ask questions, make new friends and just do life together. Some groups meet in a home, others meet online — they all study the message from Sunday’s sermon and pray together. Oh yeah, and usually there’s food. Yeah, we like that too.

Over 50 times in the New Testament, the phrase “one another” is used to describe our relationship to other believers. God tells us to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, accept one another, bear one another’s burdens and build up one another. We take those directions seriously, but that doesn’t mean home groups are always serious. There’s food, plenty of laughs — it’s you and friends hanging out!

Most Christ Chapel home groups study Sunday’s sermon as a base for their own small group discussions. They study the same passage and go through questions provided on the Christ Chapel app/on the back of that week’s sermon notes. That way, the whole church is learning and growing together. Sounds good, right?

Many home groups meet weekly or bi-weekly for the fall and spring semesters, with a break during the summer. However, some groups meet year ‘round.

Yes! High five. Now, you have a few options:

  • Join an existing group
  • Join a new group
  • Start a group with a few friends

Options 2 and 3 increase the likelihood of getting in a group right away — AND you’ll all start out together. (Ahhh, here’s to the start of a new family!)

Be a part of a newly forming group

How do I know if this is the right step for me/us? I’m not sure I’m ready to help form a new group. Well…

  • If you are wanting to get involved at Christ Chapel but don’t know many people yet; or…
  • If the events of the past year have made it hard for you to meet others and connect at church; or…
  • If you would like to share the joys and challenges of life with others…

… Then you may have a lot in common with others looking for the same thing!

Email us and we can help you take the next steps!

Holiday Bucket List

While you’re spending more time at home this holiday season, why not make a holiday bucket list for those long winter nights and weekends? Click below to download a bucket list.

Here are a few ideas to get you started: bake cinnamon rolls for neighbors, watch a favorite holiday movie, write and mail notes to family members you won’t be seeing over Christmas, go to a Christmas Eve service, make paper snowflakes.
