There Will Be Pie

Table of Contents

This may be the one-millionth time you’ve heard this, but this year has had so many unknowns. Each and every one of us have had plans cancelled, postponed and/or completely changed. We are getting through as best we can and as we head into the holidays, we’re all considering how Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations will also look different. BUT! There is absolutely one thing that doesn’t have to change this year and that, my friends, that is pie! However you plan to celebrate the holidays, pie can play a part. (The whole world rejoices.) We’ve rounded up a collection of local spots that you can support by buying holiday treats this year. Here are a few places to look for pie around town.

Sweet Lucy’s Pies
“Baking Fort Worth into a frenzy of flaky goodness” is the promise that Sweet Lucy’s Pies delivers with its fresh, local Texas ingredients. Their Thanksgiving pie selection includes salted brown butter maple, roasted pumpkin, white cheddar apple and gingersnap key lime.

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop
This shop doesn’t have their head in the clouds, but they do have some pretty fantastic ideas when it comes to Southern comfort pie making. Their menu offers pies in various sizes for all kinds of gatherings (from party of one to family celebration), and they also have something on their menu called “Cloud 9” which they claim as their signature take on pie a la mode: a mini pie with a scoop of ice cream in a jar so you get pie and ice cream in every bite. Gluten-friendly options are also available.

Stir Crazy Baked Goods
Stir Crazy Baked Goods has become a Fort Worth staple on Magnolia Avenue. Their fall/winter menu features apple cranberry, pumpkin, spiced buttermilk and sweet potato. If you wait until December, they also make eggnog pie!

Three Danes Baking Company – Fort Worth
If you’re looking for a twist on your holiday treats, Three Danes Baking Company specializes in authentic Danish recipes. They’re located in Fort Worth’s historic Southside and offer fresh puff pastries, hand pies, galettes and more.

Swiss Pastry – Fort Worth
Another longtime, local favorite, Swiss Pastry has incredible pies that will remind you of your grandma. You’ll want to reserve your pies ahead of time because there’s always a line at the door. Pro-tip: Order a burger to go as well — you’ll thank us later.

Hutch’s Pie Shop – Weatherford
Worth the drive to Weatherford, Hutch’s bakes everything from scratch each and every morning. And, whether you arrive for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Hutch delivers a pie for every meal of the day — yep, even breakfast! For fans of fried pie, Hutch’s has them in spades (we hear pineapple is life-changing). Chocolate and coconut cream are fan favorites as well.

Our Place Restaurant – Burleson
Chocolate peanut butter, Almond Joy, banana split, Oreo cream, blueberry, cherry, strawberry cream — Our Place in Burleson offers a wide variety of choices which means there’s sure to be something everyone in your group will cheer for.
