It emphasizes God’s active role in purifying and consecrating His followers to live according to His will.

The name Jehovah-Nissi is used in Exodus 17:15 and is translated as “The Lord is My Banner.” This name reveals a significant aspect of God’s character and His role as a protector and source of victory for His people.

Despite 400 years of suffering in Egypt, the faithful followed God and did not become like the people around them. In the same way our faith today grows through adversity as we live in a foreign land that is not our final home.
