Parent FAQ

When are we leaving and returning?

We will leave from our respective campuses on Wednesday, July 5th, at 2:00 p.m. (Check-in begins at 1:00 p.m.) The goal will be to return to your respective campuses Sunday, July 8th at 12:00 pm.

How are we getting there?

We will be taking charter buses through a bus company that we’ve used in the past. We charter 56 passenger buses and each bus will have at least 8 leaders and 1 staff person on each bus to supervise students. It is approximately a two-hour drive from CCBC.

Where will we be staying?

We will be staying at Allaso Ranch in Hawkins, TX. Set in the beautiful piney woods of east Texas, Allaso Ranch is located in Hawkins, just a short drive from the greater DFW area. When the gates opened for the very first time in 2008, we were ready to welcome our guests with an incredible experience that delivers loads of fun in the great outdoors. Check out their website HERE.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Sleeping arrangements will all be made with regard to the student-safe policies and procedures that we as a church uphold at all of our programming and events. We’re fortunate to be working with a facility that values these things and is designed to accommodate our specific policies. Students will be in rooms, separated by small group and gender, with a minimum of 2 screened and vetted leaders per cabin who have been through our ministry and student-safe training program. At this point, we do not have specific cabin assignments out yet, as registration is still open, but we do our best to ensure that students are placed with at least one friend that they requested.

What will we be doing?

We will be learning more about Jesus, having adventures with friends, and making memories that will last! Camp will be centered on biblical teaching, small group time and of course lots of fun! Students can participate in zip lines, swimming, archery tag, high ropes, canoeing, water slides, and so much more.

Are there any extra costs?

There is a Camp Store that has Allaso Ranch merchandise and snacks that your student may enjoy purchasing for themselves.  They sell things such as Ice cream, Icees, and snacks.

What about medical needs, food allergies and safety concerns?

We will take two registered nurses with us who will cover all medical needs. Each parent will be asked to package any medication, prescribed or over the counter, in a ziploc bag labeled with the student’s name along with the student’s name on all medication. A note card describing in detail the dosage and timing of each medication should be enclosed within the bag with the medication(s). All medication provided by a parent shall be in its original container with accurate and legible physical description and dosage of the medication. Any medication that is not in the original container will not be allowed to accompany the student and will not be administered by the acting medical professional. CCBC will have on hand over the counter medications (i.e., pain relievers, allergy medications, nausea medication, bandages, sunscreen, aloe vera, feminine hygiene products etc.) Each parent will be required to sign a form allowing or disallowing the administering of these medications to their child as seen fit by the medical professional.

What is the food allergy policy for camp?

Allaso Ranch would want us to send the students food allergies and dietary restrictions by June 15th.  This way they have time to prepare for these students with these special requirements.

Here are a few ideas to get you started: bake cinnamon rolls for neighbors, watch a favorite holiday movie, write and mail notes to family members you won’t be seeing over Christmas, go to a Christmas Eve service, make paper snowflakes.
